Soledad Jiménez-Tovar

Soledad Jiménez-Tovar is a social anthropologist interested in imperialities across time and space, with a stronger focus on former Soviet Central Asia. Her field site is the region where Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and China encounter. She is a professor at History Division of Center of Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE, acronym in Spanish), located in Mexico City. She studied her BA and MA in Mexico, and the PhD in Germany (MPI for Social Anthropology). She did a postdoctoral stay at Palacky University (Czeck Republic) where she collaborated in the design of the research project “Sinophone Borderlands. Interactions at the Edges”, founded by European Union.
