Reijiro AOYAMA is an anthropologist and a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his BA in Japanese Literature from Waseda University, MA in Japanese Language and Teaching from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and PhD in Japanese Language and Literature from Peking University. His research interests include gift exchange in digital economy, transnationalism and artisanship in East Asia, Japanese studies and Japanese language education, and the use of augmented reality in teaching and learning. He is currently working on a book project about Japanese craftsmen in the region of East Asia, and how consumers and producers actively co-create the meaning of objects on the globalising market. He is the coordinator of the ARCH CULTURE project in Hong Kong.
