Michaela KELLY is a visiting assistant professor at Lafayette College in the United States. She completed her Ph.D. in anthropology at the University of Tokyo in 2016. Her doctoral research focused on the fertility decline ‘problem’ in contemporary Japan. Following on her Ph.D., she was awarded an Andrew Mellon Digital Humanities/CLIR postdoctoral fellowship during which she worked to create and maintain digital archives of historical East Asian pop cultural ephemera. Her research interests include reproductive technologies and government fertility policies for families in modern and contemporary Japan.
